The Best XI: MSport Premier League Team of the Season 2024/25
The 2024/25 Premier League season delivered on every front, drama, flair, and fierce competition. There were surprise packages, late surges, title twists, and breakout stars. Arne Slot guided Liverpool to a title in his first year, shocking even the most hopeful Reds fans who expected a rebuild rather than silverware.

Meanwhile, 5 teams, Chelsea, Manchester City, Newcastle, Nottingham Forest, and Aston Villa—scrapped for 3 Champions League spots. Chelsea, City, and Newcastle ultimately sealed their places, while Forest fell just short in one of their best top-flight campaigns in decades.

Some stars confirmed their class, others emerged from the shadows, and one man stood above all: Mohamed Salah. Here’s the MSport Best XI of the season, based purely on performances and stats, not reputation.

GK: Matz Sels (Nottingham Forest) 🇧🇪

Image

In an era obsessed with ball-playing keepers, Sels is a bit of a throwback. He doesn't overcomplicate things (Onana👀). He keeps the ball out of the net and does it better than anyone else did this season. The 33-year-old was pivotal in Forest’s unlikely push for Europe, racking up a league-high 13 clean sheets. His 72.39% save rate speaks volumes about his sharp reflexes and shot-stopping prowess. His earlier forgettable stint at Newcastle feels like ancient history now.

RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool) 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Image
His Liverpool farewell might be bitter behind the scenes, but on the pitch, Trent still delivered. The title-winning campaign saw him influence play at both ends, with no defender creating more open-play shot-ending sequences per 90 (6.2). His passing remains unmatched from the back, and this season proved again why he’s been a generational full-back.

CB: Gabriel Magalhaes 🇧🇷

Image

Arsenal’s title charge faded fast after Gabriel suffered a season-ending injury in April—a clear sign of just how vital he was. The Brazilian was a dominant force at the back, ranking among the best for aerial duels and clearances, while also scoring four goals from set-pieces. Arsenal’s defence was at its strongest with him on the pitch, and his absence was felt immediately.

CB: Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool) 🇳🇱

Image
Captain, leader, and now Premier League champion again. Van Dijk led from the back, marrying old-school defending with modern-day composure. He won nearly 69% of his duels and 72% of his aerial battles—elite numbers. On the ball, he was a genius: 2,921 passes (most in the league), 975 of them forward. He even topped the league for passes into the final third. At 33, he’s still a complete centre-back.

LB: Antonee Robinson (Fulham)🇺🇸

Image

One of the season’s most underrated performers. Robinson wasn’t just solid defensively, he was Fulham’s best playmaker. He finished with 10 assists and dominated both flanks in crunch games, including standout performances against Salah. His engine, defensive intelligence, and crossing made him the best left-back this term.

👉DM: Moises Caicedo (Chelsea) 🇪🇨

Image
No days off. Caicedo started all 38 games, ran every blade of grass, and finally looked like the £115 million midfield anchor Chelsea paid for. He was one of the league leaders regarding tackles (3.06 per game), completed nearly 90% of his passes, and ranked among the top for interceptions and blocks. Not flashy—but brutally effective. He was Chelsea’s glue, engine, and eraser all rolled into one.

AM: Cole Palmer (Chelsea) 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Image
Palmer was the spark in Chelsea’s turbulent season. Even during a four-month goal drought, he never stopped creating. He ended with 23 goal involvements and created 87 chances, second only to Bruno Fernandes. It was a breakout campaign that showed Palmer is Chelsea’s future, no matter who’s in the dugout.

Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United) 🇵🇹

Image
United were all over the place, but Bruno kept producing. He led the league in chances created (91), chipped in with eight goals and 11 assists, and often carried the side creatively. Whether United were flying or faltering, Fernandes was the one constant in red.

RW: Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) 🇪🇬

LW: Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford) 🇨🇲

Image
With Ivan Toney gone, Mbeumo stepped up. He hit 20 goals, added 7 assists, and was relentless off the ball, making over 1,000 off-the-ball runs and ranking third in distance covered. His work rate, creativity, and eye for goal powered Brentford to another strong finish.

5 years ago, Brentford assembled a deadly front 3: the famous BMW—Benrahma, Mbeumo, and Watkins. They terrorized championship defenses, but over time, the trio broke apart. Benrahma got his move, Watkins left for Villa, and Mbeumo stayed behind. Rather than sulk, he used it as fuel. This season, he proved his class, delivering the kind of numbers that had long been bubbling under the surface.

Now, with Manchester United reportedly circling, he might end up with the biggest move of the three. Sometimes, patience is everything. Slow and sturdy wins the race.

CF: Alexander Isak (Newcastle United) 🇸🇪

Image
The comparisons to Thierry Henry are starting to stick, and for good reason. Isak bagged 23 goals and was the focal point of Newcastle’s attack, combining elegance with deadly finishing. His movement, acceleration, and composure in front of goal helped drag the Magpies into the top four. He’s not just a future star—he’s a star right now.
