Chad vs Ghana: Thiam’s fight or Semenyo’s power — Who Pushes Their Nation Towards the 2026 World Cup?

Chad vs Ghana: Thiam’s fight or Semenyo’s power — Who Pushes Their Nation Towards the 2026 World Cup?

Thursday afternoon in N’Djamena sees two very different missions. Chad, already eliminated after six straight defeats, plays for pride. Ghana, flying high at the top of Group I, looks to keep their World Cup dream rolling. Raoul Savoy’s Les Sao have struggled badly in qualifying, scoring once and conceding 15. Their last outing: a 1-0 loss to Comoros, at least showed defensive improvement, but goals remain a huge problem.

The Black Stars, meanwhile, are soaring. A five-match winning streak has pushed them to 15 points from 18. Their last game was a 3-0 win away to Madagascar, where Thomas Partey struck twice and Mohammed Kudus added another, all created by the in-form Jordan Ayew. Otto Addo’s side knows momentum matters, and they’ll want another statement win before the break.

Chad vs Ghana: Key Stats

  1. Head-to-head: Chad 0 wins, Ghana 1 win, 0 draws

  2. Chad have lost all 6 qualifiers so far, scoring once and conceding 15

  3. Ghana are on a 5-game winning streak in Group I

  4. Chad have failed to score in their last 5 WC qualifiers

  5. Ghana have scored 2+ goals in 4 straight qualifiers

  6. Chad have just 2 wins in their last 23 matches across all competitions

What to Expect From Both Teams

Chad;

Les Sao will lean on captain N’Douassel and striker Marius Mouandilmadji to cause Ghana problems, but chances will be limited. Midfielder Ahmat Abderamane brings some balance, yet their defence has conceded at an average of 2.5 per game. At home, pride is the only weapon, but against a side of Ghana’s quality, even that might not be enough.

Ghana;

Otto Addo’s men are in rhythm. Thomas Partey is dictating play, Kudus is pulling strings, and Jordan Ayew is delivering goals and assists. New call-ups like Derrick Arthur Kohn and Caleb Yirenkyi add freshness, while Tariq Lamptey’s return strengthens the defence. With 15 goals in six games, Ghana’s attack looks too sharp for Chad’s fragile backline.

Predicted Lineups

Chad (4-2-3-1)🇹🇩: Mbaynassem; Allarabaye, Noubara, Daikreo, Khamis; Damba, Thiam; Tchaouna, Youssouf, Adam; N’Douassel

🔹 Antoine Semenyo: On fire in the Premier League with 2 goals and 1 assist in 3 games this season, Ghana will hope he transfers that form to Ndjamena.
